Take Your Kids to the London Aquarium For an Afternoon of Fun April 02 2013
If your kids are bored in London (and there is an old saying that when you're bored of London, you're bored of life), then the London Aquarium is a fantastic option to get them more interested. There's nothing worse than bored children, except for sick children, but that's a completely different story.
It doesn't matter where in the world you are; if your kids are bored, no one is having fun. If you are in London, there are plenty of activities that will keep your kids from becoming bored and you from going slightly crazy.
The London Aquarium is one of the best places to take kids in London, mostly because it involves a lot of walking and walking makes kids tired. Tired kids go to bed early. When kids go to bed early, mom and dad get to have an extra glass of wine and a little fun of their own.
The aquarium has sharks, fish, lobsters, jellyfish, penguins, crocodiles, and even octopus. While you wander around with your kids they will be entertained enough to refrain from becoming bored, and they will learn enough about the different creatures of the sea that you will feel that you've done your duty as a parent for the day.
Your kids will probably enjoy the aquarium most on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays in the afternoon. This is when the staff feed the sharks, which is a feeding frenzy just crazy enough to make the kids jump up and down with excitement - which further wears them out and they will go to bed even earlier. Standing on the glass platform over the shark tank while they fight each other for food is a cool enough experience that even you might find yourself enjoying it.
Once you're finished with the London Aquarium you can reward yourselves for your great parenting and treat the family to dinner at nearby Gillray's Steakhouse and Bar, where the kids can wind down and you can have a cocktail.
